This page features a range of information and education resources relating to Peak District history which we have made freely available to download. Many of our images/photographs which feature on our separate 'images' page date from the early 20th-century so can be used in conjunction with sources such as the Ordnance Survey (OS) map extracts and trade directory entries below (which date from around the same period) to build up a picture of life in various Peak District settlements at the time.

|File Size:||33967 kb|
|File Size:||52826 kb|
Produced during the lockdown brought about the "Covid 19" pandemic and intended originally as "lockdown learning" resources for local primary school children, and to assist with home learning, these downloadable education resources (put together in PowerPoint format in two parts) aim to give a flavour of life in the Peak District 100 years ago and more. The resources feature a range of historical photographs and pictures from the period, together with old local newspaper articles, maps and other historical sources, alongside accompanying questions to encourage pupils to think about what each source tells us about the past. Part 1 focuses on the themes of School, Children at Play and Entertainment. Part 2 focuses on themes of Travel and Transport, Work, Shopping, Home Life and Living Conditions, and Health. The packs are designed so they can be edited and adapted by teachers as they see fit.
